The Voyage

The Voyage is a play about the Welsh who emigrated to America through Liverpool in the mid nineteenth century. It is a celebration of the importance of Liverpool to the Welsh, and at the same time a depiction of the harshness and cruelty of life for some in those times - both off and on board ships.  The story concerns the fortunes of four young members of the same family who face great hardship as they struggle to survive severe Victorian regimes and attitudes.  The Voyage is a touching, heart-warming story with the thrill of the hunted and the chase laced with the cruelty and harshness of Victorian Life.

This is an exciting opportunity to book a thrilling day out for your key stage 2 pupils at Clwyd Theatr Cymru in Mold.  Included in this whole day project is an opportunity to see the performance of the Voyage together with an explorator two-hour workshop.

The project is an informative and educational experience that will not only encourage debate on wider themes of citizenship and social responsibility but will also be a fantastic dramatic experience for pupils as they explore the Victorian world through theatre and drama.
