The scenario and characters in the play were developed in early rehearsal by the company from research and archives but in particular from personal recollections of the older community. Since January of this year (2005) we have been linking pensioners with local primary schools and children have been learning how to investigate, enquire and record their experiences. This was made possible by a grant from the Big Lottery and Heritage Funded initiative called the Home Front Recall Programme.

It is 60 years since the end of WW2 and this short play was developed in parallel with the hugely successful Flora’s War, also written by Tim Baker.

We would like to acknowledge the help we were given by all the people who helped us develop this project by taking part in the Reminiscence Workshops.
