Of Mice and Men was published in 1937, two years before Steinbeck’s best known novel The Grapes of Wrath

George and Lennie are itinerant farmers – in 1930s California. As they labour from dawn till dusk they share the same dream – one day they’ll have enough money to buy a ranch of their own and keep cows, chickens and rabbits. Their dream is shattered when George can’t save Lenny from his own worst enemy – his strength.
