Outreach work
Learning Centre
Work will continue in September with the Learning Centre, following a very successful six month period. The workshops are aimed to help develop and encourage creativity, co-operation and confidence skills with the teenagers attending the centre. This has been made possible by the continuing support Scotish Power.
Flintshire's Children and Young People's Partnership
Work has already begun with Flintshire's Children and Young People's Partnership. The project will aim to work to produce a show involving young people and members of the organisation based on the issues confronting the youth of today. The project will culminate in a series of workshops and performances to raise awareness of the role of the Parnership to organisations across Flintshire, as well as the young people themselves.
Youth Justice System Project
A new project will begin its initial stages in September working with the following partners: Denbighshire's Arts Officer, Denbighshire Youth Justice, North Wales Police and the Welsh Assembly. Emyr John will be researching and writing a play based on the experiences of young people in the Youth Justice System, culminating in a workshop based production which will be touring Denbighshire Secondary Schools in the winter of 2010.
Divided by Action
This group will continue in September, thanks to the ongoing support of URENCO. The group works with vulnerable groups of young people in Flintshire, from Leaving Care, The Adolescent Strategy Unit, Social Services and Family Placement. The group will continue to encourage the creativity and confidence of young people.
Flintshire Youth Advocacy
Work will begin in August with the Flintshire Youth Advocacy in forming a Drama Group. The purpose will be to teach young people in the group the skills involved with improvisation and forum theatre. We then aim in the New Year to utilise these skills in exploring some of the current issues facing young people in Flintshire today, giving them an avenue for exploration and debate.
