the secret
This new play explores domestic and social conditions in the Victorian era, with the emphasis on the conditions of domestic service of the time. It is an ideal opportunity for teachers and pupils to gain a valuable insight into life during the period, and is directly relevant to curriculum studies.

Theatre In Education

When a young orphan begins work as a maid, little does she realise that she will split the household as the stable boy’s love for her fires the jealousy of the daughter of the house.

Included in the visit is a 2 hour drama workshop looking at themes in the play, offering children an opportunity to explore ideas and attitudes through drama.

Comments from teachers.

“This performance has been excellent - in all aspects. Staging, effects, acting and plot. Such a professional company, performing for children of this age group adds to any school year. Well done to all and many thanks.”
Kings School, Chester

“A really excellent production. The actors held the children spellbound despite the relative sophistication of the plot. First rate educationally and dramatically.”
Kingsmead School, Hoylake.

“Thank you for an excellent and moving production. The children were entranced and got the ‘feel’ of class difficulties built on the very different assumptions of Victorian life.”
Kingsmead School, Hoylake.

“I really enjoyed the play. I thought the scenery and the effects were superb. The storyline was really interesting and I thought the story and acting were delivered at exactly the right pace for the children.”
Moorfield School, Widnes.

“Fantastic as always. Our second visit (we watched Flora’s War last year). Thoroughly enjoyable and a really valuable experience for the children. Lots of ideas for the work to do with children at school. Thanks!”
Moorfield School, Widnes.
