A group of young friends find themselves in serious trouble after an adventure goes seriously wrong – and the consequences of their actionthreatens to divide them for ever.
This is a new play, called, simply Word for Word which aims to inspire and encourage literacy and explore ideas of people, places, and citizenship.
Word for Word is a funny and touching piece of theatre which takes its audience on a journey through time and places using poetry and dialogue. It is, literally, a kind of Under Milk Wood for young people.
To accompany the performance, we offered two exciting workshops on the same day of the visit - a drama workshop and a creative writing workshop.
Our aim was to offer a thrilling day out at the theatre, and also to -
a) emphasise the need to become valuable members of the community (PSE).
b) stimulate literacy, enquiry and exploration of ideas of people and places through creative writing, particularly in the field of extended writing.
